With nearly two months to go, close to 45,000 tickets have been sold to see the giant-killing Japanese side take on Wales in Cardiff on Saturday 19th November and the first up game of the series against the Wallabies is attracting the most interest with 46,000 tickets sold for that match so far.
The Principality Stadium’s middle tier has sold out for the series climax against South Africa, which has also gone through the 40,000 mark, on Saturday 26th November – with £30 half price U16s tickets still available for both this match and the Australia game
Supporters can still buy tickets for just £20 to see Wales take on Argentina on the second weekend in November (Saturday 12th, Kick-off 5.30pm) and Japan a week later is also £20 per head for most seats in the ground, with £10 U16s tickets still available.
“It’s good to hear tickets are going so well for the Autumn, we always know we have the full support of the nation behind us and we are looking forward to the four Test series at Principality Stadium,” said Wales head coach Rob Howley.
“The Under Armour Series is an exciting campaign and we are looking forward to welcoming Australia, Argentina, Japan and South Africa to Cardiff.
“Principality Stadium is the most inspiring international stadium to play at and the players will be looking forward to four consecutive home matches in front of our own supporters.”
The WRU has always positioned the autumn internationals as family occasions, ensuring prices are competitive and accessible for all supporters.
With demand for the Six Nations continuing to grow year on year, it is important that the Under Armour Series remains an accessible proposition to allow all to watch their National team compete at the home of Welsh rugby.
The continuation of a club incentive scheme, which has seen clubs earn over £500,000 in the previous two seasons from ticket sales, still means that the best place for fans to buy tickets is via their local rugby clubs.
Earlier this year each of Wales’ three home RBS 6 Nations matches sold-out for the first time since 2008 with record sales (over 40,000 tickets) achieved in the first week of public availability.
“With three out of the four Rugby World Cup semi-finalists and everyone’s favourite underdog in Japan heading to Cardiff this autumn, we are once again in for a feast of rugby at Principality Stadium,” said a WRU spokesperson.
“We are keeping an eye on the results in the Rugby Championship and see Argentina continue their impressive form from the World Cup, when they were so exciting to watch.
“A good start against Australia could help define this Under Armour Series campaign, with the prospect of a Southern Hemisphere scalp or more being able to significantly help our world ranking in a season when Rugby World Cup seedings are at stake.
“With ticket prices frozen and over half the stadium available at concessionary rates we have done everything we can to ensure a mouth-watering prospect for rugby families from around the country and we fully expect the nation to get behind Wales once again this Autumn and help make the Under Armour Series 2016 a campaign to remember.”
