North leaders Pwllheli had to work hard in their 14-8 victory against nearest-challengers Bala. Two tries in the first-half from Will Thomas and New Zealander Kalim Kalimete gave the hosts a 14-0 lead. But, Bala made it tough as they replied with a try and a penalty and forced the hosts to hang on.
Llanelli Wanderers succumbed to their first defeat in Division One West after slipping to a 15-10 away loss at Crymych. The hosts trailed 7-3 at half-time before launching a second-half fightback with tries from Dion Gibby and Guto Davies. Jake Jenkins added a conversion and a penalty to give Crymych some breathing space before a late penalty gave Llanelli a small consolation of a losing bonus-point.
Kidwelly made the most of Llanelli’s loss with a 43-3 win at home to Penclawdd to extend their advantage at the top while Gorseinon are now second after edging out local rivals Waunarlwydd 13-8.
Aberystwyth and Loughor played out a 22-21 thriller. The two teams couldn’t be separated until Loughor sneaked ahead midway through the second-period before Llyr Thomas scored a penalty that proved to be the game winner.
In the East-Central, Ystrad Rhondda beat Llanharan for their fourth win of the season as Dowlais and Treorchy both maintained their unbeaten starts to the season.
West-Central league leaders Aberavon Quins had to dig deep to overcome a stubborn Ystalyfera side. The Quins trailed 9-3 before an interception led to Jack Dacey scoring at the posts. Both sides exchanged penalties before Mark Shepherd bagged the winning penalty to sneak Aberavon over the line and continue their perfect start.
