The second-row started in the disappointing 32-8 defeat by Australia in Wales’ first Under Armour Series Test match. Rob Howley’s men have no time to dwell on the performance, as they prepare to face a Pumas side fresh from a 54-20 victory over Japan in Tokyo. And Davies is determined to do the nation proud.
He said: “We’re all a bit gutted with how the game panned out. We feel like we let ourselves down on the field. But it is what it is. We’ll have a meeting to go through the bones of it and it won’t be pleasant viewing. We have to take it on the chin and move forward. We’re all proud Welshman and we hate losing, especially in that manner.
“But we have to pick ourselves up and if we win the next three games then everyone will say it was a successful Autumn, so that’s what we have to strive for. We want to improve, but the biggest thing for us is to take what we can and learn.
“I know what it’s like in Wales. You go to work on a Monday and if Wales have lost your week is terrible, if Wales have won it picks you up for the week. Hopefully we can put a smile on people’s faces this weekend.”
Wales could be boosted by the return of captain Sam Warburton, Jonathan Davies, Alun Wyn Jones and Liam Williams. And Davies reckons his men will have to hit top form to tame the Pumas on Saturday.
He said: “We know Argentina are going to present a massive challenge for us. They have been playing some very good rugby and the way they have improved from the World Cup has been phenomenal Before this autumn, we knew what the challenge would be.
“We have got to pick ourselves and we have shown over the years that we can do that.”
