Coach’s View: Cape Town – Day One

Wales Sevens head coach Gareth Williams reflects on Day 1 of the Cape Town 7s.

“It’s been a bittersweet day. After two good wins against Uganda and Samoa, we failed to manage key moments in the second half against Scotland – which clearly wasn’t helped by receiving two yellow cards early on.

“To give two free kicks from two kick-offs when we had the momentum back in the Scotland game is disappointing.

“However, this should not take away from two very professional performances earlier in the day against Uganda and Samoa to guarantee our progress to the Cup quarter-final. We’ve got a big day ahead of us.”
