Richard combines his duties as the team’s fly-half with backs coaching responsibilities while dad Gareth is both forwards and head coach.
Llandybie have completed their league fixtures, winning all 12 to finish 10 points clear of nearest challengers Aberaeron and earn promotion to Three West B.
“It’s been a great experience this year and the boys have played really well,” said Richard Davies.
“I’ve been where my dad has coached before at clubs like Tumble as just a player, but to be doing this now with him is something extra special.
“It’s been a very successful season and the good thing is it’s all local boys. There’s a really good close-knit group and we’re looking forward to testing ourselves against even better opposition next season.”
On his standout result of the season, Richard picked out the 29-10 win at Pontyates on February 4.
The win avenged the 20-17 defeat on the same ground in their penultimate match of last season – that ultimately saw New Dock Stars pip them to the title by three points.
He explained: “We had to win all four of our remaining games last year to go up, but lost at Pontyates having beaten New Dock Stars away.
“So this season we were determined not to make the same mistake again and it was evident how much the team had grown; that game was massive for us psychologically.”
