Lee-Lo relishing red-hot Judgement Day atmosphere

Cardiff Blues star Rey Lee-Lo is determined to thrive on the Principality Stadium pressure and score a maiden victory over the Ospreys.

The Samoa centre is in red-hot form after scoring a brace of tries in the 24-24 draw at Ulster last weekend. Lee-Lo and his Blues teammates were powerless to stop the Ospreys from romping to a 40-27 triumph at the home of Welsh rugby last season.

But the dangerous Blues back believes their is no better time to break their Ospreys hoodoo than in-front of a packed out Principality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

He said: “I haven’t won against the Ospreys yet. It’s three from three since I’ve been here – two last year and one this year so I’m looking forward to this one. It’s a derby, it’s Judgement Day so it should be a big game. They’re looking to make the top four, they’re a good team with good players so it should be a good game.

“Last year Judgement Day was close to a Test match, like Samoa during the World Cup time. When I ran out before the game it was buzzing I could see how much rugby means to people in Wales.

“As a team we owe them a performance but we just need to work on ourselves and what we can do. We have to play for 80 minutes or 90 minutes if there’s overtime. We need to do the hard work over the next three or four days and just look forward to Saturday.”

The Blues and Ospreys will take centre stage at 14:45 before the East versus West battle resumes with the Newport Gwent Dragons against Wayne Pivac’s playoff chasing Scarlets. Danny Wilson’s men are chasing a first win in five matches, and Wales scrum-half Lloyd Williams reckons they are on an upward curve ahead of the regional showdown this weekend.

He said: “We can take a lot of positives from Ulster. There are still areas we would like to improve on – both teams spilled the ball a bit too much in each other’s 22 and that cost us in the end. But it’s important now that we take the positives and just tweak a few things for next week and I’m looking forward to a massive game in the stadium.”
