Ticket prices for Under Armour Series reduced

Wales’ 2017 Under Armour Series fixtures against Australia, Georgia, New Zealand and South Africa have been confirmed alongside news of earlier access to tickets and significant price reductions for the Principality Stadium matches.

Warren Gatland’s side will face the three top SANZAR nations and Georgia on consecutive Saturdays this autumn – with the Wallabies kicking off the series in Cardiff on 11th November (5.15pm), followed by Georgia on 18th November (2.30pm), the All Blacks on 25th November (5.15pm) and, finally, the Springboks come to town on 2nd December (2.30pm).

For the Australia and South Africa matches ticket prices have been significantly reduced, with younger (U16) supporters also now being given access to over 90,000 tickets at £15 across these games.

Supporters can watch Wales face the Wallabies and the Springboks from £25 for adults and 48,000 seats, across the two matches, have been reduced by 25% on last year’s prices (so are now priced at £45 instead of £60), whilst U16s tickets can be snapped up with a 50% reduction on last year’s prices (£15).

Tickets for the Georgia clash have been frozen at the same family-friendly prices as the 2016 sell-out clash with Japan: from £20 for adults and half-price for children (where 60,000 are available at £10 for U16s).

For the much-anticipated clash with current world champions and wannabe British & Irish Lion tamers this summer, the All Blacks, prices start at just £40.

Tickets are on sale now at local rugby clubs for all four Principality Stadium fixtures.  Purchasing your ticket from a club enables the WRU to invest profits back into all levels of the game in Wales and supporters can also contribute directly to their favourite clubs by purchasing tickets locally – as clubs receive £5 commission from the WRU on every ticket sold.

Tickets will be available on public sale from 9th June, over a month earlier than ever before, giving Welsh rugby fans more time to access the reduced prices on offer for the autumn games.

WRU chief executive Martyn Phillips believes the new pricing will attract bumper crowds to fill the home of Welsh rugby across all four matches in 2017. He said:

“We have an exciting Under Armour Series ahead with Australia, Georgia, New Zealand and South Africa all coming to Cardiff and we want to make these games as accessible as possible, so that more rugby supporters have the opportunity to support our national team live at Principality Stadium.

“Our new pricing structure is a reflection of our ambition to sell-out the venue across all four matches whilst also hitting our business targets for investment back into all levels of the game

“We know we have the greatest rugby stadium in the world in Cardiff and we want it to be packed out to its rafters for his mouth-watering series of matches.”

For matches against Australia, Georgia and South Africa prices are the same or significantly below those for equivalent matches in the series since 2010.

The new pricing structure lowers the price of 48,000 adult tickets by 25% and releases 150,000 half-price tickets for U16s, to significantly reduce the overall cost for families across the series.

A family of four watching the Wallabies game, for example, could now spend £120 for seats which would have cost £240 in previous campaigns.

“The best way to get hold of a ticket to watch Wales at Principality Stadium is to contact your local club with tickets available at clubs around Wales now,” added Mr Phillips.

“This is the first opportunity to get the best tickets in town whilst also providing a financial boost back directly into your club.

“Remaining tickets will be accessible to all Welsh rugby supporters from 9th June, with the public sale launching earlier than usual to give more people more chance to get involved.”
