Rhys Locke and Gareth Parsons were also on the scoresheet and manager Arfon Henderson was full of pride to see his side finally get over the line and clinch the title.
“It’s been a lot of hard work but it’s paid off and it’s a wonderful feeling,” Henderson explained. The prestige of it counts for a lot but it just goes to prove that the coaching staff and the players are pulling together.”
Graig opened the season with victories over Cowbridge and Llantwit Major along with defeats against Canton and Cefn Coed but refocused to win their remaining 18 games.
“I don’t think I could give a truthful opinion because it’s beyond all my expectations, especially after the start we had,” he added.
“It’s been absolutely immense. For me personally, it’s meant a hell of a lot. There’s been a lot of hard work put in and as far as I’m concerned it’s one of the best days of my career with Penygraig.
“It’s been an excellent year for the club. We got to the semi-final of the District Bowl and won the league. Our second team got to the cup final and our youth side won the Taff Rhondda YDRU Plate. So in all, the three sides in the club have done exceptionally well.”
