The newly selected British and Irish Lion will do battle with Sergio Parisse’s Stade Francais alongside 38-cap Wales hooker Richard Hibbard at BT Murrayfield. The former Ospreys front-rower was named the club’s Player of the Year, while Moriarty scooped the Young Player award.
But they are both out to get their hands on European silverware tonight in the Scottish capital. The Cherry and Whites toppled high-flying La Rochelle to reach the final while Stade overcame Bath Rugby in dramatic fashion. And Hibbard knows the size of the obstacle that stands in the way of a second Challenge Cup title in three seasons.
He said: “Stade obviously beat the Ospreys in the quarter-finals and then Bath in the semis with that mad 10 minutes. We know they are a good team, they have some world class players running through their side. If you give them an inch of space they will take it. We have to be clinical in attack and defence and we can’t let them have a sniff.
“It’s always good to finish the season with silverware. It’s massive for the players and we want to give something back to the fans. It’s really important if we can gain that experience of winning it and put that into next season.”
There is also one Welsh representative in tomorrow’s European Rugby Champions Cup finale. Saracens are on course to do the ‘double double’ but front-rower Aaron Jarvis and his ASM Clermont side are out to wreck the party.
Jarvis has enjoyed his stint in France since moving from the Ospreys earlier this season and will be looking to make an impact off the bench at BT Murrayfield.
