But Steve Tandy’s men are sweating on scrum-half Rhys Webb who is struggling to overcome a calf injury picked up in last weekend’s defeat against the Scarlets.
The Liberty Stadium outfit have been drawn in arguably the toughest Champions Cup pool alongside defending champions Saracens, French giants Clermont, and Northampton Saints.
“Rhys has a slight tweak in his calf and we are just going to see how that’s progressing,” said Tandy.
“He’s doing OK, but he’s a doubt for the game and we will assess him over the next 48 hours.
“We are hopeful that Justin will turn it around. He’s up and running and we are hopeful he will take some part in training and be available for the game on Sunday.”
Despite a bitterly disappointing start to their Guinness PRO14 campaign, which has seen the Swansea-based region lose five of their first six fixtures, Tandy is confident the Ospreys can get their season back on track.
“Nobody will give us a hope going up against Clermont, Saracens and Northampton, but two years ago nobody gave us any going up against Clermont, Exeter and Bordeaux,” Tandy said.
“That year we got three home wins and picked up two losing bonus points in France.
“We ended up nearly qualifying on a shoestring and with a lot of players missing at the time.
“Most people have written us off already. We start at home against Clermont and we are excited to throw the kitchen sink at them this Sunday.
“European Cup competitions are never easy, but I think it’s exciting.”
