The Wales under 20’s head coach has included 16 of last season’s under 18’s squad for this years championship.
Wales will use the U20 Six Nations as an opportunity to increase their depth in preparation for this year’s World Rugby U20 Championship in France, whilst also benefiting from the return of several players who featured in last year’s tournaments.
“Individually and collectively by the end of the tournament we want to see improvements in all the players,” said Strange.
“There’s a lot of learning and a lot of development going on and if we can show that by the end of the Six Nations then we’ll be happy. The under 20’s is all about player development and that’s central to everything we do.
“We are always asking ourselves to look at the bigger picture and what’s best for the player. We feel that working alongside the regions allows us to do that and gives us the best opportunity to push players on.
“An attacking philosophy is really important. It’s the way we want to develop our players in Wales for them to play with flair, allowing them to express themselves as much as possible.”
Strange has warned his Wales side to expect a tough challenge in their championship opener against Scotland.
“Scotland had an excellent World Cup,” said Strange.
“Their development pathway has changed considerably over the last 12-18 months. They’ve put a big emphasis on their school’s rugby and they’ve always been a big challenge for us at under 18’s and under 20’s level.
“It will be a tough game for us to start but one which we are excited about.”
