The 22-year-old Worcester wing is the top try scorer in the Aviva Premiership and is delighted his good form has been rewarded with international recognition.
“The coaches have just said you’re here because of what you’ve done at Worcester and have told me to go out and do the same and to get my hands on the ball,” he said.
“The Scarlets’ recent performances in Europe have been fantastic and with their style of play I am looking forward to linking up with some fantastic players.
The former Wales under 20 star has admitted the nerves are settling in but is excited at the prospect of fulfilling a life-long dream.
“I felt a bit sick to be honest when my name was read out in the team,” he said.
“You work so hard to get to this point, when you get there it’s a surreal feeling. I have quite a large family.
“My mum and dad will be there on Saturday and I am sure they will get a bit emotional like myself. It is going to be a great day for me and my family.
“It is nice to repay them for all the taxi-ing about they have done for me as a youngster, all those Saturdays and Sunday mornings standing in the cold freezing in some random place in the Valleys watching me play.”
Adams is also relishing the prospect of linking up with one of his childhood idols Scott Williams.
“I am pretty excited about playing with Scott,” he said.
“He has been going well for the Scarlets and you have seen how good he is with ball in hand. I am pretty excited to be linking up with him.
“The Six Nations highlight for me growing up was when Wales beat England at Twickenham in 2012 and Scott (Williams) ripped the ball, kicked it through and scored. So I would have been 17 – that is the standout highlight.”
