The Toulon hooker picked up a knee injury in last weekend’s win over England in Paris and has had to be replaced in Jacques Brunel’s squad by the uncapped La Rochelle player, Pierre Bourgarit, for the big showdown.
In another change to the squad, Clermont’s Arthur Iturria has been drafted in to replace the injured lock Romain Taofifenua.
Both sides will be chasing a possible runners-up spot to champions Ireland, with Wales guaranteed to win the race if they pick up a bonus-point victory at the Principality Stadium.
Any kind of win or will be good enough to finish second if Ireland complete their third Grand Slam with victory over England at Twickenham.
