Widespread snow over most of the country has made travelling near impossible and has made pitches unplayable.
Cardiff Blues’ Friday night fixture against Benetton at the Arms Park was called off following consultation, while the Italian opponents were also unable to travel from Italy, after their flight arrangements were cancelled.Â
The Scarlets have also had to postpone their top of the conference clash with Leinster in Llanelli after Dublin Airport was forced to shut until Saturday. The Ospreys’ clash with Zebre in Parma has also been put back due to the Swansea based region not being able to fly out of Cardiff Airport.
Additionally, freezing temperatures and further snowfall is expected in Parma today which would also put the fixture at risk. But there will be one Welsh region in action this weekend with the Dragons’ facing the Southern Kings in South Africa where the temperature is around 26C.
There is one Premiership match scheduled for this weekend, with the quarter-finals of the National Cup.
Pontypridd v Camarthen Quins is the sole Premiership match and, as things stand, is still on. A pitch inspection will take place closer to the game.
In the WRU National Cup Merthyr against Pontypool, Newport’s trip to Bedwas and Bargoed v Ebbw Vale have all been called off.
