Williams is aiming to go out on a high with the Scarlets before heading 12 miles up the M4 to join the Ospreys in the summer. He helped them win the Guinness PRO12 title last year and now his sights are set on European glory.
“Going back to the Scarlets, we have an important couple of weeks ahead of us. We need to make sure we can win every game in the PRO14 and we’ve got a good chance to get through to the next round of the Champions Cup,” said Williams.
“It will be another brutal encounter because there are some big boys in the La Rochelle team. The Scarlets boys who faced France will take confidence from that win.
“We have played against the likes of Toulon and come out on the better side and it is knock-out rugby now.”
The Scarlets clinched a home quarter-final by coming out on top of a pool that contained Sale Sharks, Toulon and Benetton Rugby. That earned them a game against La Rochelle, who currently sit in sixth place in the Top 14.
“I think this could be a year for some more silverware for the Scarlets and I certainly hope so. I will give 100 per cent for the Scarlets and it will be a good way to finish that chapter of my career,” added Williams.
The Scarlets front row trio of Rob Evans, Ken Owens and Samson Lee also got a taste of the talents of the La Rochelle prop Danny Priso ahead of the quarter-final at Parc y Scarlets on Friday, 30 March.
