Bernard Jackman’s men face Wayne Pivac’s raiders from Llanelli in an eagerly anticipated double-header of fixtures at the home of Welsh rugby, the Principality Stadium.
And the news star back Amos is in contention to start the game after returning from Wales Sevens duty at the Commonwealth Games in Australia is a big boost to Dragons boss Bernard Jackman.
Amos is an almost certain starter against the Scarlets, but his Wales international team-mate and Dragons skipper Cory Hill is a doubt for the game with a foot problem.
Jackman’s Dragons are looking for their third Guinness PRO14 victory of the season against the Scarlets who themselves are hoping to secure a home quarter-final berth.
“I can definitely see we are in a far stronger place than we were. We have given 21 players their PRO14 debut and 17 of them are from our academy,” Jackman said.
“So we have blooded a lot of young guys. We had an average age of 22 over in Italy just recently.
“It’s been the perfect storm in terms of having to play a lot of youngsters because of the number of injuries we’ve had.
“I am responsible for the results of the Dragons and I have just got to make sure that we get better.”
The Dragons have added Wales internationals Ross Moriarty, Aaron Jarvis, Ryan Bevington, Richard Hibbard and Rhodri Williams to their ranks for the start of the next campaign.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with a region that’s crying out for success,” Jackman said.
“It’s not going to be built on a chequebook. It’s going to be built on what we breed and produce here. That’s exciting. It’s easy going to coach the All Blacks or Saracens after ten years of success.
“I speak to Wayne Pivac and what he has done at the Scarlets is a really good example for what we need to do. When we get this right it will be hugely rewarding.”
Judgement Day is organised in joint partnership between the WRU, Pro Rugby Wales, Cardiff Blues, Dragons, Scarlets and Ospreys.
