Wales were crowned champions after defeating England 21-15 in a keenly contested final having gone through their entire programme undefeated at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
“We now have an ideal opportunity to celebrate, promote and increase the access and opportunities for other adults and children who qualify to participate and represent Wales in Deaf Rugby throughout the community programme,” he said.
“Being crowned the World Deaf Sevens Champions 2018 was not just an opportunity to represent the nation and participate against elite competitors from around the world, it was an opportunity to showcase Wales Deaf Rugby Union.
“It has been a once in a lifetime opportunity for some, and a huge sacrifice for others. However, the accomplishments of the players, the staff and the team around the team are memories that will never grow old.
“For WDRU, it is really important for us to thank all those involved in supporting us and those who attended the tournament.
“Without this support we would not have had the opportunity to represent Wales on the world stage and hopefully inspire many others to participate in a truly wonderful sport.”
