After a 22-20 victory over South Africa in the American capital of Washington, the Wales camp is in high spirits with a fit squad hoping to make it back-to-back wins this weekend.
Howley revealed Wales are likely to make changes from their meeting with the Springboks, with George North set to return to his usual position of wing.
“We arrived on Monday and we had a walk through on Tuesday morning. Everyone is in good fettle and looking forward to the game on the weekend,” said the Wales attack coach.
“The great thing about summer tours is you don’t have much time in terms of preparation. That challenges both players and coaches and it’s a challenge we look forward to.
“Josh Adams and Tomas Francis joined up with us on Sunday. They obviously give us added strength in depth in the squad and competition for places. You’ll see them in the next two games.”
The last time Wales won a series in Argentina was under Howley’s captaincy in 1999.
The former scrum-half added: “The majority of the boys Argentina select from come from the Jaguares. When you look at their side over the last six or seven weeks, they’re unbeaten.
“It’s going to be a challenge, it’s a tough place to come, but the physicality they provide at set-piece will be one we look forward to and we’ll prepare as best as we can this week.”
North is one of only two British & Irish Lions involved with Wales this summer – Ross Moriarty is the other – and the hulking back started against South Africa at outside centre.
It looks like he will move back to his usual wing berth this weekend.
Howley said: “You can expect changes, there’s another chance and another opportunity and in the big picture, we’re only 11 or 12 games away from the Rugby World Cup.
“There aren’t going to be many of those opportunities. Saturday was a success for us in terms of winning and giving those players exposure to the international game.
“We’ve got a number of Lions back at home and it gives these players a chance to put their hands up, as it did on Saturday.
“We will probably look to start George on the wing. He’s had the experience in the centre and we know he can play there.”
