The 20-year-old flyer has been missing since sustaining a serious knee ligament problem in Guinness PRO14 action against the Dragons last October.
But following a long road to recovery, the former Wales Under-20 star hopes to hit the ground running when he returns to the field.
Giles’ aim is to make his comeback this October.
“It hasn’t been an easy time for me,” he said.
“When the injury occurred against the Dragons I didn’t think it would be that serious because believe it or not I wasn’t in much pain. I thought I had just jarred my knee back but I had the scans and they showed it was quite bad.
“It was hard being away from the squad, but there were a lot of boys in the return to play group so it wasn’t that bad.
“We were all trying to stay positive and great credit has got to go to the staff at the Ospreys who do a great job. I’ve started my speed work so I am up and running which is half the battle when recovering from injury.
“I’m not worried about losing any pace at all. I’m confident I’ll come back stronger and faster than I’ve ever been.”
The Ospreys have traditionally been Wales’ strongest region, but they have slipped behind both the Scarlets and Cardiff Blues in the pecking order over the last few seasons.
With the additions of marquee signings Scott Williams and George North, Giles is confident the Liberty Stadium outfit can once again compete for silverware.
He said: “I am very excited for this season especially because the squad and the back-room team has been freshened up.
“Matt Sherratt coming in will be a big help because he’s a top quality coach. Given that last season was one to forget, it is nice to be able to come in and freshen up.
“In any team you want to be the best and that’s what we are striving towards. We want to get back to winning silverware and we need a winning mentality to do that.
“There’s a lot of competition out on the wing. I am excited to play with George who has reached the pinnacle of the game and is a world class player.
“I can’t wait to work besides him and I’d definitely rather be playing with him than against him.”
