Davies has been absent since suffering a foot injury against Australia last November while on international duty. The outside centre will be joined in the starting XV by new signing Blade Thomson who joins the Scarlets from Super Rugby outfit the Hurricanes.
Pivac has opted to select a strong side ahead of next weeks PRO14 opener against Ulster with the likes of Steff Evans, Leigh Halfpenny, Rhys Patchell and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne starting. Up front Rob Evans, Ryan Elias and Samson Lee form a powerful front row, while James Davies, Thomson and Springboks No 8 Uzair Cassiem start in the back-row.
“We learned a lot from the performance against Bristol last week, despite the terrible conditions, and we’ll hopefully be able to build on that against Bath on Friday,” said Pivac.
“Last weekend’s game was more of a trial whilst the second of our two friendlies is more of a dress rehearsal.”
Former Scarlets outside half Rhys Priestland will captain Bath while fellow Wales internationals Jamie Roberts, Luke Charteris and Taulupe Faletau also start for the west country outfit.
