The west Walians have endured a disappointing European campaign having lost their opening three pool fixtures.
But the Scarlets are currently second in Conference B of the PRO14 and Pivac is confident they will end the season on a high.
“As coaches we are disappointed to be out of Europe and we have been tough on ourselves behind the scenes,” said Pivac.
“Look, the glass is half full from my perspective. This is what we have been talking about over the weekend.
“We are the only side to have beaten Leinster in the PRO14 this season. Yes, we are out of one competition, but we are going to have some players coming back and the players who have had opportunities will be better for those opportunities in the long run and will be short term pain for long-term gain.
“To beat a nearly fully-loaded Leinster speaks volumes for the group, we have had some great performances this season, but also some very inconsistent performances and that is why we have looked at it and said what can we do differently.
“We are doing everything we think we can to maximise the group that we got that is available so we can accumulate enough points in this next stage of the competition.”
With Pivac set to take over from Warren Gatland after the completion of the 2019 Rugby World Cup he will be replaced in Llanelli by Canterbury Crusaders assistant Brad Mooar.
And Pivac is confident the Scarlets have a bright future ahead of them.
“I see nothing but a bright future,” said Pivac.
“We know have got the basis of a squad to accumulate enough points to be playing in the play-offs in the PRO14.
If we don’t have the run of injuries, which is the worst for me as a coach in 22 years, and you would like to think you won’t have that for another year, then I think things will only improve.
“Brad will come in and put his twist on things and it will freshen things up, which is not a bad thing. I am sure the group will continue to be successful. We have been unsuccessful in Europe this season, but we are still well alive in the PRO14 and that is how we are approaching it.
