Jonathan Davies has urged Wales to trust in their systems as they look to get their Guinness Six Nations campaign off to a flyer against France on Friday night.

Wales travel to Paris on the back of a nine game winning run but face a France side who are on an upward trajectory.

And Scarlets centre Davies, who spent two season’s plying his trade for French giants Clermont Auvergne, believes Wales can halt a French attack containing the likes of Wesley Fofana and Romain Ntamack.

“They’ve got a massive amount of talent,” said Davies.

“They’re very big men and very powerful. We need to negate all their threats and make sure they don’t get going.

“It will be a massive test. They’ve had a couple of weeks to prepare and playing at home is a huge thing for them.

“We have to impose our game on them and make sure they don’t get started. We have to keep to the system Shaun has put in place.

“He’s put a huge emphasis on working on traits on certain individuals and how to negate them. We just have to trust the system and not go outside it.

“Shaun has proven he’s one of the best defensive coaches in the world and that’s why we buy into it and trust it so much. That’s important for us.”

The British & Irish Lions star is chomping at the bit to appear in this season’s Championship after sitting out last year’s even due to a serious foot injury. And he fully focussed on ensuring Warren Gatland’s final Six Nations as Wales boss is a successful one.

“Watching last year was frustrating, so it has been nice to get back in the squad,” he said.

“Success in the autumn was great. The camp has been in a good spot of late, so we are really excited to get the games going after a first couple of weeks of training.

“We’ve got to play France on Friday night and make sure we go out there and get the result. After what we hope will be a good result our focus switches to Italy.”
