While the Blues will be boosted by the triumph of Coleg Y Cymoedd in the Welsh Schools & Colleges League final, the Dragons will be determined to stay ahead of the pack. They will also be highlighting the fact they beat the Blues 28-15 in the opening round in August at the Arms Park.
It is going to be a busy week for the Blues, who follow in the footsteps of Cardiff RFC in the WRU National Cup this weekend by heading to Parc Eirias to meet RGC 1404 on Sunday. They then travel o face the league leaders before rounding off the week with a return clash with RGC at the Arms Park on Sunday, 3 February.
The Scarlets will be hoping to pick up where they left off against the Ospreys in August when they meet again at Parc Y Scarlets on Tuesday, 29 January. They won the away fixture 53-5, scoring nine tries.
In the Under 16 tournament, Cardiff Blues South lead the way after four successive victories in the first phase of the campaign. They resume at St Helen’s, Swansea, on Tuesday night with a game against Ospreys West.
The young Ospreys are currently third in the table having played one game less. Meanwhile, Blues North are also unbeaten after three successive wins and will be looking to add to that when they travel to host Scarlets East at Sardis Road on Wednesday.
