Wales made it a record-breaking 12 straight victories with success in a brutal Test at Principality Stadium to keep their Guinness Six Nations title ambitions alive.

Warren Gatland’s men are now the only team left unbeaten in the 2019 Championship ahead of their remaining two games away to Scotland and at home to Ireland.

Davies was tasked with closing down the space of the England half-backs in Cardiff and it paid off as Gatland’s men produced a superb second-half display to down the Red Rose.

“We were very happy to come away with the win. It was a very good feeling,” said Wales and Scarlets scrum-half Davies. “It was one of the toughest matches I’ve played in my career so I’m happy to have come out on top.

“England are one of the best teams in the world. Physicality was a big part of the game and I was trying my best to avoid the big collisions! Tactically we got it spot on.

“We worked hard on our kicking and forward game. We targeted the pick-and-go a lot. The coaches got it spot on and we executed the game plan well.”

Next up for Wales is a trip to BT Murrayfield to take on a Scotland side hungry to get back on the winning trail after defeats to France and Ireland.

Wales have won 11 of their last 12 matches over Gregor Townsend’s men, but their last defeat came on their previous visit to Edinburgh two years ago.

That result means taking nothing for granted, says Davies, as Wales prepare to return to the Scottish capital.

“We’ve had a few days off. We’ll make sure there are areas we need to work on and be better to face a good Scottish team in a couple of weeks,” Davies added.

“It’s a good feeling at the moment and we’re training with a smile on our face. It’s a good environment to be in. We’re enjoying our training and training hard.

“Warren said at half time against England the hard work we’ve put in will pay off in the second half and luckily it did.”
