Morgan, Wales Sevens all time top try scorer with 131 in 202 games on the World Series circuit, has agreed to extend his time with the Ospreys until at least 2021 after making a huge impression in his first full season back at his home region.
Meanwhile, Baldwin, capped 34 times by Wales, is heading to Harlequins next season. It will end a 10-year association with the Ospreys that started in 2009 when he was snapped up from Bridgend.
“I’m really sad to be moving on from my home Region, where I have so many memories and friends, but it’s the right time for me to take up a new challenge in a new environment,” said Baldwin.
“While I’m looking forward to experiencing Premiership rugby with a great club, we’ve still got everything to play for here over the last four weeks of the regular season. We want to end the season on a high and I want to help the team secure a top three finish, securing Champions Cup rugby and extending the season into May.”
The 26-year-old Morgan stepped into 15-a-side rugby this season and earned himself a Welsh cap in the Auturmn due to his try-scoring form with the Ospreys. Now he has been rewarded with a new two-year deal.
“This is where I want to be and I was keen to get the conract signed. The way the season started my profile shot up rapidly and I know that the pressure is on me to not just hit that level every time, but to keep improving,” said Morgan.
Morgan has scored nine tries in 17 appearances to date this season, including a hat-trick against Zebre at the end of November.
“Luke has transferred well from sevens and his tremendous start was rewarded with his first Welsh cap in fifteens. He’s electric when he gets the ball in his hands, he gets people out of their seats and scores tries,” said Ospreys head coach, Allen Clarke.
“That’s what we all want to see and what is really exciting about Luke is there’s more to come from him. He’s got a real appetite to learn the positional expertise required to really kick on from here and become a top level back three player.”
