Phillips’ side face Scotland and will be looking to bounce back after slipping to defeat against England. But Phillips has every confidence his side will put in a strong performance this Friday night..
“It is a big opportunity,” he said.
“All the games have been tough with France away, Italy who are unbeaten in this tournament and of course England.
“But in every one of those games there’s been a lot of positives to take home. Areas where in the past we weren’t competitive we’re now competitive.
“There’s been a lot of positives accumulated over the first three games but now we’ve reached the point where we want to see consistency of performance and more of those moments which will have a positive effect in getting a result in Scotland.”
Phillips has made two changes for Friday’s clash with Lauren Smyth at full back and Lleucu George at inside centre. In the pack, Beth Lewis and Alex Callender switch flanks while Manon Johnes returns to the matchday squad.
Hugely talented centre Hannah Jones is expecting a tough battle against Scotland but is confident of a strong performance.“We know it’s going to be a very physical game,” she said.
“We’ve played Scotland numerous times and we’ve been building up in training. We’re looking forward to getting our first win of the Six Nations.
“They’ve been close games against Scotland over the last few years but I think this group has played together more, are used to each other and we’re definitely ready for the battle.”
