Coaches from the Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Dragons and Scarlets attended a press conference at the stadium.
With it being the final round of the Guinness PRO14 this season the stakes could not be higher with PRO14 play-off and Heineken Champions Cup qualification on the line. The Scarlets face the Dragons and the Ospreys take on the Cardiff Blues in what is an unmissable day of rugby.
He’s what all four coaches had to say.
John Mulvihill (Cardiff Blues head coach)
“Both us and the Ospreys are really disappointed we didn’t finish third where we would both have been looking forward to quarter-finals in the PRO14. We had a taste of playing in the Heineken Champions Cup last season which is something the boys really thrive on.
“We put in a really good performance at the Arms Park against Saracens which allowed us to go on a run of wins so for us we want to be playing in the main competition next season. The importance of this game isn’t lost on us this weekend.”
Ioan Cunningham (Scarlets forwards coach)
“It’s going to be a long day for us but we just have to focus on what we can control and we have to get our own house in order. Hopefully we can get the job done against a very good tough Dragons team.
“That’s our priority and our focus. It’s extremely important for us to get a bonus point win but first and foremost we have to get the game done and then we look at other things.
“The bonus point will come into the situation.”
Ceri Jones (Interim Dragons head coach)
“We will look to play our part in the game and we are hoping to spoil the party. It would mean a lot to us to end the season with a bang.
“It’s vitally important to us to finish the season on the right note and put in a performance that we’re capable of. It’s been a really tough season for all of us especially the Dragons but we’ve stuck to it as best as we can.
“It’s important we end the season with a win.”
Allen Clarke (Ospreys head coach)
“We’re happy to be playing a game of real significance. We’re on a good run of form and if you look at our results when we’ve had our best players available then we’ve been very good this season.
“We’ve gathered 47 points during those periods. We don’t underestimate the challenge this week but we know if we turn up and play to the best of our ability then we’ve definitely got the firepower and quality to cause Cardiff Blues some problems.”
