The Dragons may be facing a formidable challenge in the shape of Wayne Pivac’s Scarlets side but Dee is confident they can give a good account of themselves as they target their first ever Judgement Day victory.
“It would be brilliant to get a win against the Scarlets at the Principality Stadium so some of the younger boys can experience that,” said the Wales hooker.
“It would be great to prove people wrong and that’s what we want to do. We’re certainly not coming here to roll over.
“There’s a never say die attitude in the group and we want to scrap for everything. We’re aware that times are tough at the moment.
“We’re a tight knit group and are all close friends at the club. We’re going to try and put in our best performance and hopefully people can see a lot of fight in our performance.
“At the start of the season we sat down and wrote down some goals. The first one was to get that monkey off our back in a derby game which we did at Christmas time against the Ospreys.
“We spoke today in training about how much that meant to us and it’s something we’re all desperate to feel again. Now we want to get our first Judgement Day win.”
Judgement Day will also be the final opportunity for many players to stake a claim for Wales’ World Cup squad with Warren Gatland naming his extended training squad next Tuesday. And Dee is relishing the opportunity of going head to head with Wales’ first choice hooker Ken Owens on Saturday.
“It’s great in a derby to play against your Wales teammates,” he said.
“For us to be in the same position we’re looking to impress against each other and on the field we will do battle for 80 minutes. But afterwards we will have a pint and a chat and be good friends again.
