Williams will start on the wing for Saracens at St James’ Park tomorrow as the English champions face the might of Leinster. Should Williams end up on the winning side he will become only the 11th Welshman to lift the Champions Cup.

Williams would follow in the footsteps of fellow countrymen Tony Rees, Ieuan Evans, Nathan Thomas, Richard Webster, Allan Bateman, Andy Newman, Rob Howley, Gareth Thomas, Gethin Jenkins and Leigh Halfpenny. The 28-year-old has enjoyed tremendous success since moving to Saracens playing a significant role as Mark McCall’s side were crowned European champions last season.

The former Scarlets star played a hugely influential part as Warren Gatland’s side brushed aside all in front of them to win the Guinness Six Nations Grand Slam in March while they are also unbeaten in 14 test matches. Williams will be hoping to win more silverware tomorrow as he targets a place in Wales’ World Cup squad having been named in the 42 man training squad last week.
