Wales fly-half Snowsill wowed fans and became a viral sensation with her outrageous back-kick which she pulled off for the Barbarians in their victory over the USA in April.

She was then named vice-captain of rugby’s most famous side for the historic meeting with England at Twickenham at the start of June.

“It’s been a complete whirlwind in the last few months. It was incredible when I found out I was going to be playing in America,” Snowsill said.

“I really didn’t expect it and I got to experience what being a true Barbarian means. It emphasised again to me what rugby is about – having fun and making friendships.

“I’d never played at Twickenham before and it was great to play against a team as strong as England. We were in camp for a week and it was pretty full on, but it was one of the best weeks of my life.

“Before the USA game I was training with the Kiwi scrum-half Emma Jensen and we were just messing around. I showed her a few tricks I know. She told me I had to try the back kick.

“My initial reaction was to say ‘No way’ because half the time when I try it the ball hits me in the back of the head!

“We showed the coach and I messed it up a few times, but I nailed it then and it eventually worked. That gave me the confidence to go for it in the game.

Snowsill won her 50th Wales cap against Italy in February 2019 and remains one of Wales’ most important players with her flair and kicking game stand-out characteristics.

She started for the Barbarians in their 40-14 defeat to a fully professional England at Twickenham.

Snowsill added: “I do a lot of work in schools and everywhere I go now children and club players ask me to show them how to do the back kick Everyone is trying it!

“It went a bit viral and I want to inspire others to try things and be creative. If you can show some flair on a big stage then hopefully others can try it.

“I had something really good planned for the England game. It would have been even better than the back kick.

“I can’t tell you what it is as I’m saving it for if I’m lucky enough to get selected for the Barbarians again. I’m not giving anything away, but it’s pretty creative.”
