Attack coach Jones arrived in Japan in time for Warren Gatland’s side’s opening pool win over Georgia in which Wales scored six tries to record a bonus-point success.
Next up is a meeting with the Wallabies.
“It’s a wonderful environment here,” said the former fly-half, who won 104 caps. “Everybody knows their role and they do it very well from a management perspective.
“Last time out Wales were successful against Australia. It will be a massive occasion and as players and coaches you love big sporting moments.
“We have some things to improve which is great and that’s the exciting part. They are close games against Australia. It’s about playing smart and recognising how the opposition set themselves up. “When you get in the right areas you need to convert your chances and be potent.”
Wales have seen lock Cory Hill fly home from Japan after he failed to recover from a leg fracture. Bradley Davies arrived in Tokyo on Wednesday.
“It is unfortunate for Cory. He’s such a wonderful person,” said Jones. “Bradley is a great man with vast experience and he has two World Cups behind him so he brings that experience into the squad.
“I have worked with a number of the players and management before and the senior players have been excellent. There is a wonderful foundation in place and a lot of good things in the library.”
Wales beat Australia last time the two sides met by recording a 9-6 victory in Cardiff in November 2018. On the upcoming challenge of the Wallabies, Jones added: “They have lots of talented players, but I look at it from our perspective and our boys will be looking forward to that challenge of going up against those boys. We have got some wonderful players [with regard to] skill-sets and athletic ability. It’s exciting.”
