Standing in the way of Wales and a first final in their history is a giant South African side who have made significant strides in recent years.
With a powerful combination of brute strength up front and dangerous backs, the Springboks pose a real threat. They beat hosts Japan in the quarter-finals to set-up a meeting with Wales.
“They are South Africa. They are an outstanding side,” said Jenkins. “They are uncompromising, they are tough, physical, and with some hugely talented players especially in that back line. Both wingers are exceptional with their footwork and speed.
“Willie le Roux has been around the block and we know how talented he is. We have played against him on numerous occasions and in 2014 he absolutely annihilated us in Durban in the first Test.
“He was sensational that day. Both centres are very tough, very direct, and then you’ve got Faf de Klerk and Handre Pollard who are both exceptional players. That is without their pack.
“It’s a very tough game for us, but we have gone pretty well against them in the last few years. It is nice to get one across the line and beat South Africa.
“I wouldn’t say our record over history is brilliant against them, but it has been in the last few years. Sunday is a different kettle of fish – a World Cup semi-final. We need to put it all on the line.”
Wales have beaten South Africa in their last four meetings in 2016, 2017 and twice in 2018.
Last time the two sides met Warren Gatland’s men came out on top 20-11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
“South Africa are hugely physical,” said Owens, looking at things from a forward perspective.
“I think everyone’s spoken about that being bred in them. They’re a quality outfit. You can see the growth in their squad over the past couple of seasons under Rassie Erasmus.
“They’re a very well coached team. I know one of their back-room staff, Aled Walters, so they’re extremely fit and well conditioned. They’re a quality side and they’ve had some big results.
“They’ve gone to New Zealand and got a draw. I’m just looking forward to the opportunity of playing them in a World Cup semi-final.”
Owens continued: “South Africa have got a pretty settled squad. Fortunately we’ve won the last four against them, but form goes out of the window and records are there to be broken.
“Hopefully we can get a result.”
