For Alun Wyn Jones and his team, Wales’ Guinness Six Nations clash with England can’t come soon enough as these historic rivals prepare to meet at Twickenham today.

Captain Jones knows exactly what a meeting with England is all about as the clash will be his 21st meeting with the Red Rose.

No player in world rugby has played against them more than the lock.

“I wouldn’t say it’s been your typical Wales-England week. We know what’s coming and we’re obviously well aware of the results we’ve had previously,” Jones said.

“I don’t think we’ve had that before coming into this game and there has been a good focus on ourselves and the game. Now we’re up here the sun is shining, we had a good team run on Friday, and the one thing that hasn’t changed is that as a player you want to play.

“You don’t like to look too far back but in the previous two games we’ve had, we’re not going to take anything away from the opposition, but solely looking at ourselves we feel we could have expressed ourselves and done more in those games coming into this one.

“There is obviously a disappointment in terms of the results, but a positive in that we know where we can go right. The game can’t come quickly enough.”

Wales have welcomed back No 8 Josh Navidi and wing Liam Williams into their starting line-up to face England. It will be the first time the pair have played Test rugby since the Rugby World Cup.

“It’s England-Wales so there is always hype around the fixture,” Jones acknowledged. “Don’t forget we know quite a lot about each other. There are quite a few guys playing in England and guys who have played with each other on Lions tours.

“It’s another Test week – that’s the main focus. We are here to represent Wales. I have played and lost and played and won against England. [This] is no different – I want to play and win.”

On the return of Williams and Navidi – plus the news fly-half Dan Biggar and wing George North are fit to start after recovering from knee and head injuries – Jones said: “You always want the healthiest squad possible. It’s good to see your squad get stronger and healthier during the campaign. We have had a couple of guys get injured that can’t feature, but it’s good to see those guys coming back in, bringing energy, and have an appetite to play. It’s great to have them back.”
