The 32-year-old, playing in his 11th game for the London-based side, kept his side on course for a potential top four finish in the Gallagher Premiership with the only Quins try at the Stoop.
“Sale are one of the most physical sides in the Premiership and they have a big heavy pack full of South Africans. Even so, we knew we could match them up front,” said Baldwin.
“It was different playing with no crowd, but you ge the energy from the players around you rather than the fans. The only time I really noticed it was when I was getting ready to throw in at the line-outs.
“The win is a positive for us, and something to work on, but we know we need a few more wins if we are going to get into the top four.”
Quins led 9-0 at the break thanks to three Marcus Smith penalties, but it was Baldwin’s trademark try in the 56th minute that sealed the deal for the home side.
Before the game Baldwin and his Harlequins united in taking a knee in support of Black Lives Matter, while Sale opted to wear white T-shirts with the message “Rugby Against Racism”. Only four of their XV took a knee – Marland Yarde, Simon Hammersley, Sam Hill and Tom Curry.
