Wayne Pivac’s side will face the Red Rose in Cardiff on Saturday looking to build on their wins over Ireland and Scotland in the first two rounds of the 2021 Guinness Six Nations.

“Wales against England – there is obviously a lot of history there,” said flanker Tipuric.

“No matter what’s on the line, it’s always a big game for the Wales team. It’s a bit weird now with Wales against England in Principality Stadium with no crowd.

“But it’s still up there as the pinnacle of any Welsh rugby player’s career. Everyone is pretty level headed.

“We haven’t been playing at the top of our game. We’ve got a lot to improve on.

“We’re still winning games which shows we’re doing something right, but we know we’re not the perfect team.”

Wales have experienced trio George North, Jonathan Davies and Josh Navidi back from injury and available for selection against England.

If he makes Pivac’s matchday 23 for the game, North will win his 100th Welsh cap.

Centre Johnny Williams is also back available.

Leigh Halfpenny is continuing to go through the return-to-play concussion protocols.

Asked about 20-year-old wing Louis Rees-Zammit who has three tries in two games in the Championship to date, Tipuric revealed the Gloucester man is enjoying Test rugby.

“Louis is a great guy,” said the Ospreys captain.

“He’s had a lot of limelight at a young age, but he’s pretty grounded. He’s quite funny as well and he’s fitted straight into the squad. He’s shown the potential that we see every day in training.

“He’s lightning-quick – it’s not nice trying to chase him down in training every day, but it is nice when it’s happening to the opposition on the weekends.

“He’s starting to come out of his shell a bit and the boys are starting to get to know him. He’s easy to have a chat to, and he gets a bit of stick, but he gives it back as well. He’s got a good personality.

“He seems like a pretty grounded kid and he knows he has to work hard to keep on getting better.

“The game never stands still and, for him, he just wants to keep scoring tries. We don’t want to hold him back in any way possible either.”

Looking ahead to England, Tipuric added: “We know it’s going to be a tough game. England are a world-class team and they do the basics really well.

“Obviously we have put ourselves in a good position for the tournament, but we take one game at a time.

“If we perform the basics well, we have a chance of coming away with a win.”
