In the first hour of public sale fans snapped up a record 20,000 tickets across the Autumn Nations Series and, already, both middle and lower tiers have sold-out for Wales’ much anticipated opener against New Zealand on Saturday 30th October.
Daily sales rates have doubled those of 2017, the last time the All Blacks visited Cardiff for the annual series.
Thousands of supporters joined online queues to purchase the new digital tickets at any one time and hundreds of calls were taken by the Welsh Rugby Union’s customer care team on day one.
And it’s not just the All Blacks set to draw in the crowds, with Wales taking on the world champion South Africans, the flying Fijians and the rejuvenated Australians on consecutive weekends at Principality Stadium.
Tickets are available at concessionary half-price rates for U17s for the first time across all categories for all matches.
“The high demand for international tickets bodes well for the whole game in Wales,” said WRU CEO Steve Phillips.
“Returning support is first and foremost great for the team. Our players can’t wait to perform in front of a packed Principality Stadium again. It is also vital in terms of generating the money that is re-invested in the game at all levels, but this is the national sport of Wales and it just hasn’t felt right without supporters in Stadia.
“There has been something missing and we will be delighted to welcome fans back for a series which will see many of the superstars of the world game in Cardiff.
“A packed-out series will be symbolic of things returning to normal in Welsh rugby.”
Supporters can buy with confidence with a full refund policy in place should Covid-19 restrictions prevent attendance for anyone.
First up in the series is New Zealand, kicking-off at 17:15. This meeting will be the first time the almighty All Blacks have returned to Cardiff in four years.
The second Test, against South Africa on Saturday 6th November, and the final Test, against Australia on Saturday 20th November, share the kick-off time of 17:30 with the third clash of the series against Fiji on Remembrance Sunday, Sunday 14th November set to kick-off at 15:15.
Digital tickets are available from wru.wales/tickets with prices ranging from £10 to £35 for Fiji (that’s £5 to £17.50 concession) and from £25 to £75 for both the Springboks and Wallabies matches (or £12.50 to £37.50 at concessionary rates) – with the half-price U17s offer available in all ticket categories for all matches.
Supporters who have successfully purchased tickets are encouraged to download the Principality Stadium ticketing app to be able to receive their digital tickets for the autumn fixtures.
