A graduate of the ground breaking WRU Elite Coaching Pathway, Cunningham was head coach of the Wales U20s squad in the recent Six Nations championship on an interim basis, and is now focussing on developing talent across the male and femaile performance programme.
“I’m delighted to come on board on a full time basis and hopefully build on what was achieved in the recently held U20 Six Nations championship,” said Cunningham.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity as we continue the development of future welsh talent across the board.”
WRU Performance coach manager, Dan Clements, said: “We are really pleased to bring Ioan on board with the Welsh Rugby Union.”
“Ioan is a skilled and experienced coach who has coached across a number of performance environments, and we are looking forward to working with him as he will be a valuable member of the performance programmes.”
The Warden of Llandovery College, Dominic Findlay, said: “We wish Ioan all the very best of luck in his future career, I am certainly not surprised that the WRU has taken him into their staff as he has been outstanding for the College and all our rugby pupils and staff during the past year.”
