Joyce returns to the women’s squad having been involved with Wales Women’s autumn campaign while Tom Williams has been added to the men’s squad after impressing in camp.

The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series kicks off with a pair of combined Emirates Dubai 7s events on 26-27 November and 3-4 December.

Great Britain will participate in the opening two rounds of the series in Dubai, as part of the standing agreement to play the calendar year 2021, before reverting to compete as national unions for the remainder of the 2022 Series, with England, Scotland and Wales participating in the men’s series and England in the women’s series.

The 12 team men’s competition will follow the Olympic format with three pools of four teams each, while the 10 team women’s event sees the teams divided into two pools of five.

Fresh from their September success in Vancouver and Edmonton where they won both ‘Fast Four’ events, GB are drawn in Pool B alongside Olympic bronze medallists Fiji, Canada, Ireland and Russia in the women’s competition.

Head coach Scott Forrest said: “There’s a nice consistency to the squad off the back of Canada which helps us in terms of building on the performances we had in Vancouver and Edmonton

“This group of players have created a really open and honest culture, it’s been exciting to see that grow over the last month and it’s great to be able to take that to Dubai.

“It’s been an unbelievable experience since coming together at the start of the year. We’ve developed even more and are in a better place post-Tokyo. The players have left GB in a better place for when it returns.”

Drawn in Pool C, GB men will take on 2021 Series Champions South Africa, Ireland and Japan, who were promoted as HSBC World Rugby Challenger Series champions in 2020.

GB men’s head coach Tony Roques has selected 11 players who competed in Canada where GB finished as runners-up. They are joined by Harlequins’ Will Trenholm and former Wales 7s international Tom Williams.

Roques said: “It’s been great to keep a core squad together and bring in Tom Williams and Will Trenholm.

“Tom was on the radar before GB got together. He did extremely well in the Super Six Series in Scotland, and we invited him into camp off the back of this.

“I’m hugely grateful to everyone who has taken part in the programme overall. We have a lot of fond memories we’ll keep with us for a long time.”
