The Pumas stunned New Zealand in Christchurch to secure a 25-18 victory which was built on discipline, a rock solid defence, and a world class goal kicking performance from Emiliano Boffeli who contributed 20 points.
Both sides will face Wales at the Principality Stadium this November in what is sure to be two mouthwatering affairs.
The All Blacks did outscore the Latin Americans by two tries to one with impressive hooker Samisoni Taukei’aho powering over in the first-half off the back of a well-worked driving lineout while Caleb Clarke scored an opportunistic try thanks to a lovely offload from Rieko Ioane.
But Argentina were too well drilled for the All Blacks with blindside Juan Martin Gonzalez crossing for the Pumas’ only try but the boot of Boffelli and their resolute defence was enough to fire them to the top of the Rugby Championship.
Elsewhere in the Rugby Championship another of Wales’ autumn opponents Australia humbled world champions South Africa 25-17 in Adelaide. Outstanding openside flanker Fraser McReight scored a brace of tries for the Wallabies.
Noah Lolesio converted and added a penalty as Handre Pollard missed two kicks before getting South Africa on the board.
The Wallabies lost Tom White to a yellow card after half an hour but the defence held firm, both McReight and Marika Koroibete making try-saving tackles.
South Africa then started the second half with 14 men after Faf de Klerk was sin-binned a minute before the break and the Wallabies took advantage with Koroibete finishing off a smooth move before McReight dived over for his second try.
Kwagga Smith replied with two tries for the Springboks in the final five minutes but Australia continued their nine-year unbeaten streak on home soil against the world champions.
