For the first time in history, all 32 players have a full-time WRU contract, with their journey to professionalism having started just under a year ago.
A special documentary, Game Changers, will be aired on BBC One Wales this evening. The programme charts the progress of Wales Women since before contracts were awarded. Positive results had been few and far between in the years leading to the announcement last autumn that contracts were to be awarded but that was soon to change with two wins in the autumn and two more in the Six Nations.

Wales captain Siwan Lillicrap, flanker Alisha Butchers and wing Jasmine Joyce are amongst the players who feature heavily in the documentary. They are currently in New Zealand preparing for Sunday’s match.
Lillicrap said, “I fought for so long to get my first Welsh cap and to be in this privileged position now, shows the strides that the game has taken. It’s massive,” she said.
Alisha Butchers added, “The programme is really special because it shows just how far we’ve come. There is quite a lot of emotion and a few tears were shed when we had a sneak première in the team room last night. We have put so much had work in as a group and we’re excited to put that into practice against Scotland on Sunday.”
Along with the highs and lows of rugby preparation,, the documentary also follows some heart-warming personal stories of players – all of which makes them who they are today.
