The Pumas sharpened their claws for their return visit to the Welsh capital by beating England at Twickenham for the first time in 16 years. Last year they drew the first of two Tests at Principality Stadium and then won the second.
“New Zealand had a big pack and were physical and fast. We need to be ready, and we need to be better for Argentina as we know they have a big pack as well,” said Thomas.
“We haven’t been together long and everyone’s looking forward to next week now. We will get better.
“We need to learn from the game against the All Blacks and move on with the learnings. We have a squad that wants to get better.
“We felt good and ready to go physically, but there were little mistakes here and there, especially when we were exiting. We need to clean those up for the next game.”
The 29-year-old earned his 14th cap against the All Blacks and is battling with regional clubmate Nicky Smith and Dragons’ Rhodri Jones for a run in Wayne Pivac’s side this autumn. Smith came on to replace him in the second half.
“I’m enjoying my rugby at the minute, and I was fortunate to get to start. It’s massive for me to be the number one pick,” said Thomas.
“I need to work on a few bits of my game to try to stay where I am. I’m trying to tidy stuff up at scrum time, as well as working on my game around the field.
“Nicky and I are big pals and we’ve been together at the Ospreys for about 10 years now. We have a good relationship and push each other, which is what we both want and need for both of us to get better – he’s a great bloke.”
