That will be the mantra for the build-up to the second game in the Autumn Nations Series against Argentina this weekend.
“We probably let them into our 22 too easily. That was the frustrating thing, because we know how dangerous they are close to our line,” added Tipuric.
“They have such great ball carriers, as we saw today, and when we were in there, we just let them come at us rather than going to meet them. We missed a few tackles.
“When you get your line broken it’s one of the hardest things to get back on top of and they are the best when it comes to speed of ball.
“It all starts with fronting-up, I guess. That’s the only way we can slow the ball down and that was the frustrating thing.
“We didn’t get off the line and front up that way. When you front up that way you can get over the ball and slow things down and have a go at second efforts after a tackle.”
While the Welsh skipper was frustrated, head coach Wayne Pivac saw a few shafts of brightness.
“There were a lot of good individual performances, but I think collectively we needed be a little bit more physical at times, come off the line and meet New Zealand,” said Pivac.
“I think a part of that is also where they are at in their season and where we are in ours. There were individual performances and moments in that game, like winning the scoreboard area going into and straight after half-time.
“That’s a positive but we’ve got to make sure when we do get into a game like that, we’ve got to keep it in an arm-wrestle for as long as we can.
“To release the pressure straight after a score is something we’ve got to look at and make sure we get right for next week and for other games.”
