The former Welsh international crossed in the first half try against the Dragons to notch his 50th try in the competition and move into fifth on the all-time URC try scoring list.
For Evans, 28, who signed a new deal with the Scarlets in the summer, it was further evidence of his importance to his home region. He now trails behind Tommy Bowe (67), Craig Gilroy (59), DTH van der Merwe (58) and Tim Visser (58) on the top try-scorer’s list.
Scarlets defence coach, Gareth Williams, celebrated his wing’s achievement and was quick to outline the influence he has on the squad at Parc Y Scarlets.
“Steff’s achievement with is fantastic for him and for the club. In my brief time here I’ve really enjoyed working with him,” said Williams.
“He has a real appetite for the game and has been a pleasure to work with. It is a real positive achievement for him.
“He does it week-in, week-out. Players like him are the glue in the squad and play a key part in our continuity.”
Evans moved above Ospreys full-back Dan Evans and is now the leading Welshman in the top ten try-scorers for the URC, with Tom James, the other Welshman on the list, in ninth spot.
Evans made his Scarlets debut in 2014 and has made 163 appearances for the Scarlets and has scored 66 tries in all competitions for his side.
