Jonathan Humphreys witnessed at first hand just how dangerous Sunday’s opening World Cup opponents can be after seeing them beat England at Twickenham in the warm-up matches.
“I was at Twickenham to see them beat England and I was really impressed by them. They have some incredibly powerful runners, physically they are in incredible shape, and it’s going to be a tough, tough challenge.
“We don’t shout a lot about what is going on with us., we are confident in our ability. We’re a bit edgy, but in a good way and we’re in a good spot – the boys have worked incredibly hard just to be here. “
While everyone is sweltering in the heat wave in France, Harlequins prop Dillon Lewis says he isn’t bothered about any of the talk over whether or not World Rugby introduce water breaks in games.
The temperature is set to be around 28 degrees in Bordeaux for Sunday night’s 9.00pm kick-off, but Lewis is ready to battle both the heat and the Fijians.
“This is 12 degrees cooler than it was in Turkey – it was 43 degrees out there. This is where all the work comes into play, this is the business end of it all,” said Lewis.
“We’re all excited for the game this weekend. We feel like we are in a good place and it’s all about making the most of the opportunity.”
