Reynolds joins the Blue & Blacks on loan from Dragons RFC, following in the footsteps of centre Max Clark. Both are in contention for selection for the BKT URC opening league fixture against Benetton Rugby at the Arms Park on Saturday, 21 October.
The 24-year-old loose-head prop is a product of the Dragons Pathway and has played 43 times for the Men of Gwent. He has previously represented Wales at U16, 18 and 20 levels, and will now compete with Rhys Carré, Rhys Barratt and the Wales World Cup front rower Corey Domachowski in the Welsh capital.
“We’re delighted to add Josh Reynolds to our ranks. It’s now a position of real strength with our two internationals Corey and Rhys Carre alongside an exciting prospect in Rhys Barratt,” said new Cardiff head coach, Matt Sherratt.
“Josh is in a similar mould to Rhys and Corey, as he will be able to give us impact with ball in hand and in defence.
“Together with the signings of Max Clark and Matthew Aubrey last week, we’ve been able to strengthen the squad within our budgets to allow us to compete to the best of our ability in the URC and European Cup this season.
“We are also grateful to the Dai Flanagan and the Dragons, who have prioritised Josh and Max’s continued development and opportunity to get game-time.”
Sherratt has also confirmed that Josh Turnbull, currently on the sidelines with injury, will continue as captain of the region.
