Brython Thunder will make history when they play their first home game in the new expanded Celtic Challenge against Edinburgh Rugby at Parc Y Scarlets, on Sunday. (KO: 1:30pm)

Alex Callender will captain the side for a third time with Wales rugby legend Sioned Harries returning to the side at Number 8, with Shona Wakely moving to lock, and Finley Jones selected at flanker.

Natalia John, who has returned to action after a lengthy injury lay-off continues in the Thunder engine room, while Meg Davies returns at scrum half and will partner fly half Niamh Terry at half back.

Meg Webb is selected at centre, alongside Ellie Tromans in an exciting midfield combination to face an Edinburgh side a place above them in the Celtic Challenge table after the first two rounds of the new cross-border tournament between sides from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Gwalia Lightning will hit the road for the first time in the Celtic Challenge when they travel to Ireland to face Clovers in Round 3 at Musgrave Park in Cork on Sunday. (KO: 1pm).

The Welsh side are top of the table after two successive and impressive wins in the first two games of the new expanded Celtic Challenge tournament.

Robyn Wilkins, who played for Wales in WXV1 in New Zealand, is drafted in at fly half for the injured Carys Hughes, who is ruled out with a collarbone injury and is being assessed by the Welsh Rugby Union’s medical team.

Full back Nel Metcalfe and Catherine Richards have been ruled out after being called up by English champions Gloucester-Hartpury squad to face Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday.

Cat Nicholas McLaughlin, Gwalia Lightning head coach, said: “This will be a real test of the depth of our squad with our first away game in the tournament, having an experienced player like Robyn Wilkins will be a real asset, with Nel and Cath being called in to feature for Gloucester-Hartpury.”
