Three 30-minute games were played against a competitive Scotland side at the Hive in Edinburgh.
Always keen to celebrate a Welsh win, the former Wales Women back row and captain and current WRU performance pathway manager and U18s head coach Siwan Lillicrap talks us through the match, which was played away from the cameras:
“The Welsh side were slow to start with Scotland applying a huge amount of attacking pressure, which eventually resulted in a try in the corner giving Scotland a 5-0 lead,” says Wales Women U18s head coach Lillicrap.
“This sparked a response in the Welsh camp, with Wales applying continued pressure on Scotland, starving them of any possession.
“Wales scored four convincing try’s on the bounce with some great offloading, support play and ball movement from the young Welsh women.
“The team kicked on in the second third to score a further three tries and really showed their strength through some physical dominant forward carries and great skills by the back line.
“In the third section of the game Scotland fired back at the Welsh girls but the team did exceptionally well to hold out the determined Scotland side for 20 minutes.
“Eventually, the Scots got over the line to score their second try of the game. A determined Welsh side then fought back to end the game on their terms with a try of their own.”
