Having lost to France and then beaten Scotland on Day 1 in Colwyn Bay, Siwan Lillicrap’s team fell to a 14-5 defeat to Ireland in their opening game and then allowed a 14-point lead against England slip as they lost 26-14 in the end.
Missed chances in the first game, and ill-discipline in the second – Branwen Metcalfe, Hannah Lane and Evie Hill all received yellow cards – cost Wales dear after they had raced into the lead in both games. They led 5-0 through Hannah Lane’s try against the Irish and then tries from scrum half Seren Lockwood and wing Ffion Davies to thank for their 14-0 advantage against the English.
