The Canadians were lethal with ball in hand with their physicality with and without the ball gave Liza Burgess’s side plenty to think about.

Uncharacteristic errors blighted Wales throughout with dropped passes disrupting flow and continuity for the home side.

Canada scored five first half tries to leave Wales facing a mountain to climb in the second spell but despite scoring two second half tries, the visitors proved too strong and claimed another four touchdowns to claim the honours.

Canada dominated the opening exchanges and constantly kept Wales on the back foot. Rampaging second row Sierra Hassa, who had already shown up well with a couple fo barnstorming runs, opened the scoring in the fifth minute. The conversion from Ava Ference gave Canada an early 7-0 lead.

Prop Maisie Davies continued her try scoring form with a well taken try to bring Wales to within two points in the 14th minute.

Canada scored their second try in similar vein to their first, their pack drove close to the Welsh try-line before Camille Arvin-Berod pounced to take the visitors lead to 12-5.

An electric break from inside centre Lana Dueck saw her beat several Wales defender on an arcing 25m run towards the try-line. The conversion took Canada out to a 19-5 lead after 20 minutes.

Winger Kennedi Stevenson showed power and determination to work her way over the tryline as Canada turned up the heat to lead 24-5.

Canada proved relentless as Addy Holmes touched down in the corner to give her side a 29-5 lead at the break.

No 8 Emily Findlay burst from a rolling maul and exploded over the try-line to give Canada a perfect start to the second spell.

Welsh inaccuracies continued to hamper their attempts to get back into the match with dropped passes proving costly.

Canada were in no mood to release the pressure valve with full back Ava van Santen picking a great line to power over for Canada’s seventh try of the game.

Wales finally had something to shout about when centre Savannah Picton-Powell sliced through to give Nel Metcalfe the easiest of conversions.
