Wales tight head Leon Brown has signed on the dotted line, as has the former Cardiff and Ospreys prop Dmitri Arhip. He returned to action in the second half of last season after finally recovering from an Achilles injury.
The Moldovan international with battle it out with the 24-times capped Brown, Lloyd Fairbrother and former Wales U20 caps Chris Coleman and Luke Yendle for the No 3 jersey. Argentinean cap Rodrigo Martinez has also agreed a new deal to fight for the loose head spot against Welsh international Rhodri Jones, while hooker James Benjamin is also once again the roster for the new campaign
“We’re pleased a number of our talented front rowers have agreed new deals. We’re excited to see them continue their journey with us and they understand there is a very real expectation on them to kick on and perform,” said Flanagan.
“It’s great news Dmitri has agreed new terms. He is a rock-solid performer, a total professional and vastly experienced tighthead who adds a huge amount to our squad.”
Flanagan has also beefed up his forward strength by bringing in Tongan back row man Solomone Funaki, the near 6ft 8in former Scarlets and Australia U20 lock Steve Cummins and Wales flanker Shane Lewis-Hughes.
The Dragons kick-off their BKT United Rugby Championship campaign at Rodney Parade against the Ospreys on Saturday 21 September. Prior to that they will play friendlies against Hartpury Uni, Bristol and Bath.
